Electronic Music Production Course (Certificate)
The Electronic Music Production Certificate at SAE Institute Rotterdam is a short course, that gives you insights into the latest digital music production technology and workflow. Electronic instruments, hard- and software based, are used to create and manipulate audio. Microphone recordings, effects use and mixing-techniques will also be covered. In electronic music productions, it is vital you know the basic theory and workflow with MIDI and digital audio. Knowing your way around hard-disk recorders, sequencing software and samplers is key to make a professional production.
The SAE Institute Electronic Music Production Course is for you if:

Duration of the Short Course
- 6 months
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age: 16 years
- Basic English language skills
Theory Lectures
- 2 x 2,5 hours per week
Practical Time
- Individual bookings, with personal support of a supervisor
- Access to facilities at least 6 days per week

Course Contents
Basic Audio Techniques
You will learn about sound theory, analogue and digital mixing consoles, equalisation, effects and dynamic processors.
Production Techniques
This section of SAE Institute's Electronic Music Production Course deals with fundamental music theory issues in which we have a closer look at composition structure and arrangement. Beside these topics we will also cover mastering techniques for CD, vinyl and internet.
Hard-disk Recording
By working on several assignments you will get to know industry standard audio software and learn how to effectively use these programs for editing vocals and instruments.
MIDI and Sequencing
Using sequencing software, students are trained in MIDI recording, sequencing and virtual instruments. Combination of audio and MIDI for remixing is discussed. You are encouraged to experiment with new ideas to create your own compositions.
Sampling and Synthesis
Samplers, synthesizers and virtual studio software is explained and various sound design techniques are explored. Sampling and beat programming are combined technically and creatively.
